Microcurrent is often confused with TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) and EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) devices. TENS and EMS devices can cause muscle contraction. TENS appears to work by interfering with pain messages traveling to the Central Nervous System. EMS devices exercise muscles and is commonly used for rehabilitation following an injury.
 
Unlike TENS and EMS, Microcurrent does not cuase muscle contraction and has a healing effect on the local tissue.
